Psalms 1

The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked

Blessed is the man
The singular Hebrew word for  man (ish) is used here to portray a representative example of a godly person; see Preface

who b walks not in c the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in d the way of sinners,
nor e sits in f the seat of g scoffers;
but his h delight is in the law
Or instruction
of the  Lord,
and on his j law he meditates day and night.
He is like k a tree
planted by l streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its m leaf does not wither.
n In all that he does, he prospers.
The wicked are not so,
but are like o chaff that the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked p will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in q the congregation of the righteous;
for the  Lord r knows s the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
